The Florida BASS Nation Northwest Region kicked off the 2018 season with their first Pro/Am Qualifier on February 10th. Twenty-four boaters and four co-anglers launched from White City landing to take on Lake Wimico and the Apalachicola River. Several limits of bass were caught on a variety of techniques. Taking top honors was Bobby Smith of Southern Bass Anglers. His five bass tipped the scales at 13.35 pounds. In second place was Randall Langston also of Southern Bass Anglers with five fish totaling 12.43 pounds. Randall also collected the Big Fish prize with a 5.33 pound lunker. Representatives from the Southern Bass Anglers didn’t stop there as they rounded out the top five. Jamie Johns was 3rd bringing in five fish for 10.89 pounds to the scales. Chris Sabo was 4th with five fish for 10.80 pounds, and Steve McLemore came in 5th with five fish for 10.17 pounds. Tanner Steffan of Hub City Bassmasters took 1st place on the co-angler side with five bass weighing 6.65 pounds.
