FBN South Region Team Qualifier #2

Dean Morgan, South Region Director, hosted Team Tournament # 2 out of Okeechobee’s Okee-Tantie Recreation Area on Saturday January 20, 2024. On the heels of a cold front the conditions were cold and windy, but eight (8) of the eleven (11) teams competing managed to bring limits to the scale. There were a total of forty-seven (47) bass brought to the scale for one hundred forty-six point one six (146.16) pounds, an average of three pounds eleven ounces (3.11) each. The bag of the day came to the team of Rick Wilhelm (FBN State President) and Dell Hatfield (FBN South Region Tournament Director) totaling twenty four point nine five (24.95) pounds. The Team of Wilhelm and Hatfield also brought the big bass of the day to the scale for eight point one five (8.15) pounds to solidify the win for the day, great job to a very deserving team.

Due to changes in the tournament payout approved by the Board of Directors this season, payout is one (1) place per seven (7) boats, only one (1) place was paid with the winners receiving $1,232.00 for the win and  $220.00 for big bass. Congratulation to everyone that came out and competed.

Also, please be aware of the changes for qualifying for the State Championship as follows. Qualifying for the State Team Championship will be based upon the total number of points a team will have earned at the conclusion of all team qualifiers in a region. Once all qualifiers in a region have been completed, the top 85% in the points standings will have the opportunity to advance to the State Championship. This season there are no minimum number of tournaments required to advance, advancement will be based solely on the total number of points earned in a region.
