Boyd and Neely take wins in NW Pro-Am on Talquin

The NW Region held its 3rd Pro-Am Qualifier of the season on Lake Talquin. The tournament included the largest turnout so far this season for the NW Region with 35-anglers (26-Boaters & 9-Non-Boaters) participating. There were 116 fish weighed that went 243 lbs. The largest being 7.36 lbs, which was caugh by co-angler, Tanner Steffan of Hub City Bassmasters. There were five other fish weighed that went 5+ lbs and one other that was just shy of the five pound mark at 4.98 lbs. The big fish in the Boater’s Division was 5.92 lbs and it was caugh by Colt Williams of Capital City Bass Hunters.

Quincy angler, David Boyd of Quincy Bassmasters took first in the Boater’s Division with a weight of 17.63 lbs. David’s sack included one of those 5-lb fish that went 5.89 lbs. Behind him in second place was Mike Sloan of the Hydrilla Gnats Bass Club from Bainbridge, Ga with 16.52 lbs. Mike’s sack also include one of those 5-lb fish that went 5.88 lbs. In third place was another Hydrilla Gnats angler, Steve Bushore, with a 5-fish limit that weighed 13.01 lbs. He too had a 5.45 lb fish to help his weight.

In the Co-Angler Division Chris Neely squeaked out the win with 12.59 lbs, and “YES”, he had a 5.07 lb fish that help secure the win in his five fish sack. Behind Chris was the infamous Tony Bigot of Hub City Bassmasters. Tony’s weight included five fish that went 11.25 lbs. In third, was another Hub City Bassmaster angler, Tanner Steffan with 9.09 lbs. Tanners sack only included 2-fish but as previously noted, one of those was the big fish for the tournament.

Congratulations to all the anglers that did well and thank you for the patience and cooperation during these challenging times. Everyone appeared to have a great time while practicing social distancing and following the CDC guidelines. Thanks again to all the anglers that came out and participated.
