The Florida B.A.S.S. Nation High School Series.
High School Bass Fishing is here to stay in Florida. B.A.S.S. and the Florida B.A.S.S. Nation are committed to the young anglers in the state. We at the FBN will be running a Tournament Trail next year just for High school anglers. Here is the information packet on how to start your own High School Club!!
Remember we are hosting an OPEN team event for High School students on March 30 on Lake Toho. It is open to any two high school kids. They must attend the same High School but do not have to be a member of a B.A.S.S. High School club. Registration will be at The Heritage Park Inn in Kissimmee on Friday March 29th at 6pm. It is OPEN to any two high school anglers provided they attend the same school. Please download the entry form here and mail to the address on the form.

We will also have a 'High School division' at our State Championship this year. It's going to be another shoot out at the Big 'O' this summer. I can't wait to see everyone there.

Marion Jr Bassmasters
11-14 Champion |
WOW!! Everyone expected Lake Okeechobee to produce for the 86 junior anglers that took to the water June 23-24 for the State Championship. It all started Friday afternoon with the registration/pairings meeting hosted by Roland Martins Marina. Special thanks to Tuscaroran Pro Lures for attending the banquet and all the sponsors for the great raffle prizes and goody bags for the anglers. A special thanks to Mercury/Motorguide, Trokar Hooks, Culprit, Shimano, Patrick Sebile/Sebile Lures and Chris Lane for the autographed jersey. Tom Mahoney won the jersey then graciously donated it back to one lucky angler in a random drawing Sunday after the weigh-in. Thanks Tom.
Day 1 started under partly cloudy skies at 6am for the launch at Roland Martins. As the anglers all idled out of the lock who knew how good it was going to get. Day 1 weigh in started at 2pm and almost instantly we got a glimpse of things to come with Rayfe Marquis (Marion County) 16lb bag to take the lead I the 11-14 age group. We ended day 1 with Luke Ferguson (Lakeland) tipping the scales at just a shade under 21lbs and taking the lead in the 15-18 age group. 41 out of the 50 anglers in the 15-18 age group caught a five fish limit.
Day 2 started with a light drizzle and possible severe rain coming. Around 12pm the skies just opened up for a few hours but got lucky and the skies parted just long enough for us to have our weigh-in. As everyone weighed in but the top five it was looking like the champion (11-14) was going to come from deep down the list but Rayfe Marquis backed up his day 1 bag with a solid limit to claim the title with a total of 25.19lbs. Great Job Rayfe. In the 15-18 age group things were a little different. Before we got down to the top five, Drew Cook (Quincy) rocketed all the way from 35th place to set the bar with a 32.36lb limit on day 2. As we worked through the top 5 it became apparent that the 32lb bag was too much to overcome. Dustin Bozeman (Lakeland) made a hard charge for second with a 17lb limit on day 2 to back up his 14lb day 1 limit. Day 1 leader Luke Ferguson (Lakeland) never got a big bite on day 2 and settled in 3rd place.
Lake Okeechobee showed its true colors once again. Id like to personally thank every angler, parent, boat captain, extended families and sponsors for all that they do for our Junior program. It would not exist without them.

Florida
B.A.S.S. Nation Junior Program
The 2013 seasons is already underway and we are moving towards our 2013 State Championship. We have several new clubs that have joined the Florida Federation Nation Junior program. With everyone's help, we continue to grow as an organization. This year at our State Championship we will unveil a new program for the juniors.
Our State Championship has been moved to early summer to help accommodate those juniors whose schools start early and hopefully we will experience a little better fishing. We will be fishing the red hot Lake Okeechobee this year and the kids should have a great tournament. Roland Martin's Marina will be our host hotel and weigh in site. I encourage all the kids to register and fish this year if they can. It should be a shoot-out down at the Big 'O' this June.
