"Results from the 4-man Team Championship
on Lake Harris September 14-15, 2013.
24 teams showed up Friday night at the Civic Center in Tavares. A special thanks to the City of Tavares for hosting this event. Not only did they provide a meeting location and assistance at the ramps in the morning but they added some money to the payout. As the teams launched Saturday morning at Wooton Park, it was apparent that it was going to be a tough day with no wind. However, someone always catches them and Saturday was no different, the team of Michael Grovesteen and Ricky Carr brought in 25.32lbs to take an early lead. Their partners Tom Walsh and Dennis Hanley (Club Florida) had just over 10lbs and their team took a 9lb lead into day 2. Day 2 launch was greeted with a slight breeze and a lot of teams knew they had a chance to move up. It was not meant to be though, Michael and Ricky matched their day 1 weight with 25.36 and Tom and Dennis stayed the course and they took home the win by 15lbs and $2400. Michael also had big fish both days, which netted them another $960 and two Trophy Catch qualifiers.

State Youth Director-Florida B.A.S.S. Nation
the Florida B.A.S.S. Nation Web Site
Thank you for visiting our web site. The goal of this site is
to make available as much information as possible to our members
as well as provide a general understanding of the Florida B.A.S.S.
Nation to new members and visitors.
chapter members are our grass-roots fishermen dedicated to the
future of bass fishing. They furnish manpower, money and equipment
for lake clean-ups, promote catch-and-release, encourage community
involvement, lobby for and against proposed legislation, introduce
youth to fishing and even conduct tournament creel census reports.
Our federation members also have another common
interest, tournament fishing. Every weekend our anglers enjoy the
B.A.S.S. Nation National Tournament Trail. It is the only amateur
circuit that leads to the prestigious B.A.S.S. Masters Classic
where they compete against the top 40 professional fishermen each
On this circuit, chapter members qualify through
our state federation for a slot on our state team. Our state team
then competes against other state teams at the B.A.S.S. Central
Divisional Championships. At this tournament the contenders compete
as a team for the prize money, but the top individual from each
state team advances to the B.A.S.S. Nation National Championship.
At this National Championship tournament the contenders compete
against all of the other divisional qualifiers and against the
other contenders in their division. The top individual from each
division advances to the BASS Masters Classic.
Today our National Federation members are actively
pushing for better conservation practices, introducing kids to
fishing, conducting community service projects and promoting fishing
throughout their communities. Because of the hard work and dedication
of our federation members the future of fishing looks bright!

Thank you to all that participated. We had 90 young anglers compete in this tournament. Jeff Brooks and all our Youth Directors did a great job organizing this event as everyone had a great time. We want to send out a special thanks to all the parents who got your anglers there, all the club members who keep this program running, the young anglers themselves, and most importantly, the boat captains who give of there time and finances to put these young anglers on the water. Thank you everyone for a great tournament and we will see you again next year.
